Section 3: The Consultation Process
To help inform our advice to the Council of Australian Governments, a public consultation process was undertaken involving written submissions, consumer research and visits to each state and territory to meet with departmental officials, clinicians and other key stakeholders.
In our First Report, we provided a summary of views from the consultation process as they related to the emergency access and elective surgery targets.
In this section of the Supplementary Annexure we will provide more detail on the views of stakeholders and consumers on issues related to the implementation of the performance targets. The views, considerations and ideas that emerged from this research played an important role in shaping our discussions and recommendations.
