The Medical Research Future Fund is providing $35 million to support viable, new health biological and medical technologies to reach proof-of-concept and beyond so they are attractive for private capital investment and commercialisation.

The first phase of the BioMedTech Horizons initiative consists of $5 million targeting precision medicine and 3D anatomical printing.

MTPConnect, Australia’s medical technologies, biotechnologies and pharmaceuticals Industry Growth Centre, is administering the first phase of the BioMedTech Horizons initiative. Grants will be awarded following a two stage assessment process, the first of which is an expression of interest that concluded on 10 December 2017.

The remaining $30 million will be rolled out over the next four years in consultation with the Medical Technologies Association of Australia, AusBiotech, and MTPConnect.
